LinkedIn launches in Norwegian

Mountain View, Calif, — July 17, 2012 — LinkedIn, the world's largest professional network with 161 million members worldwide, today announced that it is now available in Norwegian, making it even easier for Norwegian professionals to communicate, collaborate and share information.

There are already over 600,000 Norwegian members on LinkedIn and it is one of the fastest-growing social media platforms in Norway . From today, existing and new LinkedIn members will be able to access the site in their native language directly from their homepage.

“Unlike many parts of mainland Europe, Norway’s economic growth is accelerating thanks to record investments in its offshore oil and gas fields,” said Fredrik Bernsel, a director of LinkedIn in the Nordics. “For a robust economy such as Norway’s, the introduction of LinkedIn in the native language will prove a powerful tool for our members here, who are using LinkedIn to share and exchange knowledge and ideas and to do business in a way never done before.”

Norway-based companies, including SAS, DFDS and NetCom are also leveraging LinkedIn to deliver targeted advertising campaigns to clients and prospects through the company’s Marketing SolutionsAdProfit works as LinkedIn’s partner in the region, helping local Norwegian companies advertise and run social media marketing campaigns on LinkedIn.

More and more, Norwegian employers including StatoilAker Solutions and Mercuri Urval are utilizing LinkedIn’s Hiring Solutions to identify and recruit top talent in Norway. Using LinkedIn, companies can identify and secure the best candidates more quickly and cost-effectively than if they had relied on traditional recruitment tools.

The provision of LinkedIn in international languages has been central to LinkedIn’s global expansion. In addition to Norwegian, the site is also available in 17 other languages: English, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.
