LinkedIn Reaches 2 Million Members in Belgium

LinkedIn has today reached the 2 million member milestone in Belgium. Worldwide, Belgian members are among the top 10 most active and engaged members. They live mostly in the cities of Brussels, Antwerp and Luik/Liège.

Owner, director or manager

2 million members mean the same number of jobs. ‘Owner’ is the most frequently listed job in Belgium. More than 50,000 people have this job title. ‘Director’ and ‘manager’ are in second and third place. The most prevalent skills listed in Belgian member profiles are ‘management, ‘sales’, and ‘marketing’.

“An increasing number of Belgian professionals use our network to share knowledge and experience and to grasp career opportunities. Almost 45% of the Belgian workforce now has a profile on LinkedIn”, said Lena Olivier, Head of Talent Solutions at LinkedIn Benelux. “Professionals who are active online with a business profile considerably increase their chances on the labor market. Potential employers can find them easily.”

Financial sector most represented

The financial sector, ICT and government are the best represented sectors network. This is in line with the largest employers on LinkedIn: the European Commission, BNP Paribas Fortis and KBC Group.

Top five universities on LinkedIn

Not only companies are active on LinkedIn, educational organisations are too. This enables them to stay connected with their alumni, and current students can gain insight into possible career paths. The three Belgian educational organisations most prevalent on LinkedIn member profiles are Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Universiteit Gent and Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
