- LinkedIn started out in the living room of co-founder Reid Hoffman in 2002.
- The site officially launched on May 5, 2003. At the end of the first month in operation, LinkedIn had a total of 4,500 members in the network.

2011 Quarter 4
- Total revenue advanced 105 percent year on year to $167.7 million. For the full year 2011, revenues were a record $522 million, up 115 percent. This was the sixth straight quarter in which LinkedIn's revenues have at least doubled over the prior year.
- Hiring
Solutions revenue was $84.9 million, increasing 136 percent compared to
the year ago period. In the quarter, hiring solutions comprised 50
percent of total revenues compared to 44 percent last year. At the end of 2011, there were over 9,200 enterprises under contract for hiring solutions.
- Marketing Solutions revenue was $49.5 million, increasing 77 percent compared to the prior year.
- Premium Subscriptions revenues ended the quarter at $33.3 million, up 87 percent year-over-year.
- According to comScore, unique visitors (including members and non-members) averaged 92.0 million in the quarter. In December 2011, LinkedIn ranked as the 36th most-visited website worldwide, according to comScore, up from 45th just one year ago. ComScore measured 7.6 billion page views in the fourth quarter.
